Itarasi train assault case: Three accused arrested, 3 on the run
Three men who allegedly thrashed and whipped a 23-year-old man for hours on board a Mumbai bound train on March 24-24 intervening night in MP were arrested by government railway police, just before they were to surrender before a local court in Itarasi (Hoshangabad) on Monday.

The three men identified as Ravi, Vicky and Balram (all residents of Patna) and aged between 20 and 24 years were produced before the court, which sent them to judicial custody, GRP Itarasi in charge Dushyant Joshi said.
Three more accused Jitendra, Ghanshyam and Jahangir (residents of Saharas-Bihar) whose names were added in the case after detailed investigations, however, are still on the run.
All six accused have been booked under Sections 307, 342, 506, 323, 294, 147 and 148 of IPC.
A 23-year-old man Sumit Kachi was allegedly thrashed and whipped by the three men for hours on board Patliputra-Lokmanya Tilak Terminus Express on March 24-25 night for allegedly stealing drinking water from the bottles of the accused.
Sumit was later tied through the window of the S-2 coach of the train and beaten at Itarasi railway station in Hoshangabad district of MP.
The three accused were arrested the same day and booked under Sections 294, 323 and 506 of IPC, owing to which they were shortly released on bail.
A few days later, however, the video of the horrific episode went viral on social media leading to suspension of the investigating officer in the case and also two RPF personnel.
Subsequently non-bailable sections, including 307 (attempt to murder) were added in the case and three more accused were identified and their names added
