A horrific case of a 19-year-old girl having been gang-raped multiple times by five men, including a police constable over three months has been reported in Singrauli district of Madhya Pradesh.
Four accused, including the teenager’s boyfriend and an insurance agent were arrested on Friday, but the fifth accused, who is a police constable is yet to be arrested, Waidhan police station in charge Akhilesh Goswami said.
All accused are aged between 25 and 30 years.
The teenager who is a native of Singrauli’s Waidhan town fell in love with a man Pushpendra Pandey (resident of an adjoining village) three months ago. Pusphendra started exploiting her sexually in the name of marriage.
A few days later, he took her to a flat in Vindhya Nagar area of Singrauli, where the teenager was gang-raped by Pusphendra and his friend Sanjay Saket for a couple of days.
Shocked by the chilling episode, the teenager wanted to report the matter to the police, but Pusphendra apologized for the incident and assured to marry her soon.
Just a few days later, Pusphendra took the girl to a flat in Baleri area of Singrauli where, he along with two friends Dhananjai Shah (an insurance agent) and Vinod Shah gang-raped the girl for three days.
The savagery with the teenager didn’t end there as Pusphendra subsequently took her to Mahajan Mod (also in Singrauli) where she was locked in a room and raped by him and his friend Sudhir Rajak (a police constable posted at Singrauli police lines) several times.
Unable to bear the agony of repeated gang-rapes over a period of three months, the teenager asked Pusphendra to fructify his promise of marrying her, but he refused to keep his promise and instead threatened to kill her if she made the matter public.
The teenager, however, finally gathered courage and reported the matter to Waidhan police on Thursday. “We recorded her statements, got her medical test conducted and then lodged a case of gang-rape, human trafficking and criminal intimidation against all five accused,” Waidhan police station in charge Akhilesh Goswami said.
Four accused, including Pushpendra Pandey, Sanjay Saket, Dhananjai Shah and Vinod Shah were arrested on Friday, while efforts are underway to nab the fifth accused, police constable Sudhir Rajak, who is on the run.
