In a unique promotional bid, Ranbir Kapoor and Deepika Padukone, alongwith director Imtiaz Ali embarked on an overnight train journey from Mumbai to Delhi for their upcoming Tamasha.

On Monday morning, it was just another day at New Delhi Railway Station, until the clock struck 8.15am and the Suvidha Express from Mumbai screeched to a halt at Platform No 4.

The passengers of the first class coach alighted and the photographers got into action and everywhere all you could see and hear was flashlights being switched on. Actors Ranbir Kapoor, Deepika Padukone and director Imtiaz Ali were thronged by people, and the police personnel, who were present at the platform could do little to keep people at bay.

The crowd followed them right up to the parking lot of the station. However, one of the coolies seemed a little sad. “Arrey hum Deepika madam Deepika madam chillate rahe, lekin unhone toh humari suni hi nahi,” he said. Perhaps he was hoping to get clicked with his favourite actor.

A source from the Western Railways’ PRO denied there being any special treatment given to the stars. “They booked their tickets like normal passengers and they travelled like everyone else does. We didn’t give them anything special and they didn’t ask for anything special either,” he tells us.

However, there have been reports that a special coach had been added to the train to accommodate media and the film’s team. Security arrangements were also in place to avoid any untoward incident. Apparently it was Deepika’s wish to travel by train. Ranbir had shared, “We were anyway travelling to Delhi. So, when Deepika wished to take the train, we went ahead and cancelled the flight tickets.”
