Bollywood music composer Pritam Chakraborty has turned 45 today. One of the most sought after musicians in the Hindi film industry, Pritam started his career by recording jingles for television commercials. His first break came with Tere Liye in 2001 for which he collaborated with Jeet Ganguly. Later, he went solo and came up with hits like Dhoom, Gangster and Life In A Metro. This was the song which made Jeet-Pritam’s work something to look forward to. This was an instant hit. Unfortunately, the two didn’t work together after this film.
Song: Dhoom machale
Film: Dhoom (2004)
Pritam returned as a single composer with this film, and created all the right noises. It also reincarnated Esha Deol in Bollywood.
Song: In dino
Film: Life In Metro (2007)
One of his finest albums, every song from this film was melodious and brilliantly crafted. Here’s one of them.
Song: Mauja hi mauja
Film: Jab We Met (2007)
It was one of the most played party songs of 2007. Also, who could forget Shahid-Kareena’s dance in this one!
Song: Tu jaane na
Film: Ajab Prem Ki Gazab Kahani (2009)
Atif Aslam’s voice and Pritam’s soulful music made it a winner.
Song: Tum hi ho bandhu
Film: Cocktail (2012)
Have you heard a better ‘popular’ ‘sufi’ number yet?
Song: Phir le aaya dil
Film: Barfi (2012)
It’s Pritam’s best work so far.
