Bollywood actor Nimrat Kaur says she plans to work for the next 50 years; doesn’t regret making it big in her thirties. She currently stars in the Akshay Kumar thriller Airlift.

Even though Nimrat Kaur has been part of several ad campaigns and music videos, she actually shot to fame with her performance in The Lunchbox (2013). In fact, after that, she also made her international acting debut with the American television series, Homeland. However, the 33-year-old doesn’t feel that success came to her a little late in life. “I want to work for the next 50 years, so I don’t think I am late at all. I believe that I am meant to be working in the industry at this precise moment. If you give me a chance to be 20 again, I won’t take it. There is a certain clarity and gratitude you get in your thirties; you don’t get swayed or take things for granted at this age. Also, I am not a sprinter; I am meant for marathons,” says Nimrat.

Currently, the Bollywood actor is happy with the positive reviews her recent release, Airlift, has received. But, she says that working on the film required her to be really “patient”. She adds, “Last year, I was only shooting for Airlift. Apart from that, I was going through some Bollywood scripts and finalising some international projects. The work on this film was very fragmented because of the weather and other conditions. We started shooting for it in January last year, and we finished only in December. So, I needed to be patient. I didn’t want to get worked up, thinking that I have put all my eggs in one basket.”

Nimrat is yet to star in a typical Bollywood potboiler. Ask her if she would ever like to do the regular song-and-dance routine in a Hindi film, and she says, “I don’t know if an actress with a profile like mine would be expected to do that. I don’t think anyone will sign me only for that. Also, to begin with, that is not my priority, but if I am required to do it in a film, I will definitely do it. I don’t get uncomfortable or shy by the thought of singing and dancing. I can do anything.”
