A Punjabi film producer has dragged Bollywood actress Priyanka Chopra to court over title of a film that her production company allegedly intends to produce in Punjabi.
A Punjabi film producer has dragged Bollywood actor Priyanka Chopra to court over title of a film that her production company allegedly intends to produce in Punjabi.
The case is now scheduled for hearing on February 4, Thursday afternoon.
The producer Talwinder Singh Rathor has filed a suit a city civil court at Dindoshi against Chopra and her production company M/s. Purple Pebble Pictures claiming damages and seeking restraining orders for use of the title ‘IK ONKAR’ for the movie.
In the suit Rathor has alleged that in the year 2013-14 he started production of the movie and titled it as IK ONKAR. The said movie he alleged that is almost complete and is at the last stage of production. He claimed that he has invested a sum of Rs 5 crore in the movie. He added that as per the procedure and practice he has also with the IMPPA (Indian Motion Picture Producers Association) and also obtained a copy right for the same.

However, Rathor alleged that recently, he came across the news that Chopra and her company, too are planning to make a film in Punjabi under the same title Ek Omkar.
Hearing this, Rathor claimed in his suit that he was shocked and approached IMPPA. Rathor has in his petition before the court alleged that while his claim will be decided by the dispute committee of IMPPA, he has approached the court to restrain Chopra and her production company to use the said title.
