“The importance given to stars has to decrease and the importance given to technique needs to increase. Unless the star system comes under control, films which rely on content for success will not be very relevant. The star system has to go down for the quality to go up. This way, producers will be forced to bring in content in their films,” says Dibakar, who is known for films such as Khosla Ka Ghosla (2006), Oye Lucky! Lucky Oye! (2008) and Shanghai (2012) .

Dibakar also adds that writers also need a better place for themselves in the industry. “The importance given to writers also needs to increase. This is very important,” he says.

The Detective Byomkesh Bakshy filmmaker, who recently produced the film Titli, says that every movie uncovers something new about the audience and what they like to watch.

“The Indian audience is changing, but at the same time Bollywood has become bigger and even more pervasive. Every film reveals something new. Every film like Masaan and Dum Laga Ke Haisha reveals something new about the audience and how the Indian film viewing experience is changing overall,” he says.
