Justice Mudgal orders DDCA to be ready for India-Lanka T20 at Kotla
With the Feroz Shah Kotla scheduled to host the second T20 match between India and Sri Lanka on February 12, the high court appointed observer Justice (retd) Mukul Mudgal has ordered the DDCA to be on their toes.
With the Feroz Shah Kotla scheduled to host the second T20 match between India and Sri Lanka on February 12, the high court appointed observer Justice (retd) Mukul Mudgal has ordered the DDCA to be on their toes.
Because Mudgal had been appointed till March 30, 2016, the DDCA once again requested him to supervise the proceedings.
Recently, Mudgal submitted his report on the India-South Africa Test played in December, which showed his discontentment over the working of the DDCA. Now that the Kotla is to host another international fixture, there was speculation the DDCA might find it difficult to get the necessary clearances from the government.
However, Mudgal met with DDCA officials at the Kotla on Sunday and urged them to expedite the processes. By saying this Mudgal meant that the DDCA’s working committees should be formed beforehand. Although clearances have been sought from the Delhi government under Mudgal’s supervision, he said that it is up to the government to provide DDCA with the permissions at the earliest.
“As of now, I have been requested by the DDCA to take over the proceedings and the permissions for the game have been applied through me. We are waiting for the Delhi government for the necessary clearances before we decide anything further. But as of now, I have briefed the DDCA to form their committees so that as and when the clearances come, we have enough time to chalk out further plans for the T20 game,” Mudgal told HT.
On Saturday, BCCI secretary Anurag Thakur had met DDCA officials regarding the status of the stadium. Thakur though, had simultaneously informed Mudgal over email and the retired justice reverted that the DDCA is in the process of acquiring the clearances to host the game.
“Justice Mudgal has informed Anurag Thakur that the work is in progress. He has asked us to form the committees as soon as possible. We are expecting that the clearances shall be provided by the end of this month or by the starting of February. In the meeting today, he also decided that the media manager needs to be changed as he wasn’t too happy with him during the Test. So we are making sure that we are ready with the formation of committees before the clearances come,” DDCA treasurer Ravinder Manchanda said.
