Sourav Ganguly plays gully cricket in Kolkata: Watch how he hits the pull shot
Sourav Ganguly, who is currently the president of the Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB), took some time out from his busy schedule to play gully cricket in the streets of North Kolkata. Still a popular figure, the Prince of Kolkata came out with some of his trademark shots that helped the 44-year-old score 7,212 Test and 11,363 ODI runs.
When Sourav Ganguly, the Prince of Kolkata, wields the willow, the grace and elegance keep us enamored, wherever he is playing — even on the narrow streets of Kolkata, playing Gully cricket. Yes, you read it right, Gully cricket!
This weekend, Sourav Ganguly, who is currently the president of the Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB), took some time out from his busy schedule as a cricket administrator and pundit, to turn back the clock by a small demonstration of stroke-play, knocking the ball around with the neighbourhood boys in a narrow street of North Kolkata.
The former India skipper, one of the classiest batsmen of all time, has scored 16 Test and 22 ODI centuries during his illustrious career. But on Sunday, he was seen playing with the tennis ball. Dada started off by dispatching full pitched deliveries with his trademark straight drives.
Ganguly shifted gears soon enough and tried those lofted shots as well, which we have all fallen in love with (remember those inside out shots). While the residents of the locality were all worried for their window panes, no one complained as they lined up on the sides of the street to enjoy the Prince of Kolkata and his artistry.
