Uttarakhand police arrested three men on Sunday and seized a tiger skin with 25kg of bones in a late evening raid at an isolated place close to Rajaji National Park near Dehradun. This was the six tiger skin recovery this year by the special task force from Dehradun area.
“A team of eight STF men was sent to nab poachers following a tip-off received...A tiger skin barely four-five months old was recovered from them along with 25 kilograms of tiger bones. All three accused have been booked under wildlife act and forest conservation norms...their interrogation is going on at Railwala police station” said an official.
“...interrogation is on as the accused have accepted that they found the big cat skin and bones in the forest area close to Dehradun, but expressed ignorance about the exact location.”
Police suspect that the tiger was poached inside the forest area close to Dehradun or Haridwar.
The STF had seized five tiger skins from a poacher in March this year. During interrogation, it was revealed that the tigers were killed in either Corbett or Rajaji tiger Reserves.
