Boys outperform girls in Class 10 exam in Assam, check results here

The Board of Secondary Education, Assam (SEBA) announced the High School Leaving Certificate (HSLC) or Class 10 exam results on Tuesday.

Sarfaraj Hussain of Sankardev Sishu Niketan, Guwahati, topped the High School Leaving Certificate Examination (HSLC) exam, the results of which were declared on Tuesday.

Sarfaraj, whose father works at a restaurant in the city, scored 590 of 600 marks (98.3%) to clinch the top spot on the merit list. Sankardev Sishu Niketan is a group of schools run by the Shishu Shiksha Samiti — a state-level committee of RSS-affiliated Vidya Bharati.

Assam education minister Himanta Biswa Sarma visited Sarfaraj’s home to congratulate him on his success, and announced a Rs 5 lakh reward in addition to Rs 10 lakh to his school for infrastructure development.

“The Assam government will fix deposit Rs 5 lakh against Sarfaraj’s name for his future studies. Sarfaraj tells me that he wants to pursue his higher secondary course at Cotton College. The state government will also bear all his educational expenses in Cotton College till his Class 12 examination,” said Sarma.

The state education minister also directed the public works department to develop an approach road to the school, located in Betkuchi area in the city.

Swagat Gogoi of St Xavier’s School , Dibrugarh, has stood second in the exam with 588 marks.

Click on ‘Assam HSLC Result 2016’ to go to the log-in page

Provide the required details like roll number and name

Click on ‘Submit’ button

Your result will be displayed on the screen

You can download your scores and take a print out for future reference.

You can also get your results through SMS service of BSNL and other private mobile operators like Airtel and Reliance.

The overall pass percentage in this year’s Class 10 exam, conducted by the Board of Secondary Education, Assam (SEBA), improved slightly to 62.79% from last year’s 62.20%. A total of 381,585 candidates appeared for the examination, 239,614 of whom emerged successful.

In all, 232 candidates’ name figured in the Top 20 merit list, and 5,449 passed with distinction. Boys outperformed girls, with 64.11% boys clearing the exam compared to 61.56% girls.

Some 54,197 student secured first division, and 96,568 achieved second division. The number of third division holders stood at 88, 849.

Dhemaji district recorded the highest pass percentage of 78.06.

In the Assam High Madrassa examination, results of which were also declared on Tuesday, Abu Sufian of Chapara Madrassa HS School, Dhubri district, topped the merit list.
