CM Khattar woos investors in Japan, wants companies to invest in Haryana

CM Manohar Lal Khattar announced that his government will soon appoint a Japanese language officer in Tokyo to facilitate Japanese companies considering making investments in India.

Chairman and chief executive officer of Suzuki Motors Corporation, Osamu Suzuki encouraged the Japanese entrepreneurs to invest in Haryana.

Suzuki made this call at an investment promotion seminar organised at the Embassy of India in Tokyo on Tuesday during the Haryana chief minister’s visit.

In a separate meeting in Tokyo, Haryana chief minister Manohar Lal Khattar announced that his government will soon appoint a Japanese language officer in Tokyo to facilitate Japanese companies that are considering making investments in India.

Haryana chief minister was involved in an engaging interaction with Japanese companies and investors.

During the question session, Khattar answering questions in English in the same language and those asked in Japanese in Hindi. Most questions pertained to power, road, water and environment sectors.

“I am impressed by the sincerity and communication skills of chief minister Manohar Lal Khattar,” said Osamu Suzuki. He said despite having worked in Haryana for 33 years he could not speak Haryanavi and was amazed when he saw Khattar conversing in Japanese during his first visit to Japan.

The chief minister is currently leading an official and business delegation to Japan and China to invite foreign direct investment for the state.

Later, he addressed media persons after half-a-day long one-on-one meetings with prospective investors of the top companies and banks based in Japan.

Khattar said Haryana offers great opportunities for investment in fields of IT/ITES, Agro and food processing, healthcare and medical education, skill development, electronics hardware manufacturing, textile and apparel, defence and aerospace, mass rapid transport.

The CEOs and top officials of companies, including Honda Motorcycles and Scooters India, Marubeni Corporation; JETRO; SMBC Nikko Securities; Bank of Tokyo Mitsubishi, and NIDEC were appreciative of the Japanese call centre that was launched by Khattar on January 15, two days before his visit to Japan.
