Homebuyers in Raheja Vedanta, Gurgaon, reach settlement with builder, will withdraw court cases

Apartment owners of Raheja Vedanta had approached the Delhi High Court to ensure that the builder delivered on its promises and adhered to compliances. However, on Friday, Joe Saggar and Raj Kumar Khanna, who had filed the petitions on behalf of 130 buyers claimed that they have reached out of court settlement.
Raheja Vedanta has 550 flats, of which 250 have already taken possession. Around 50 families are living in the condominium complex.
On Thursday, a group of buyers of Raheja Atharva, and Raheja Vedanta -- led by the developer -- met additional chief secretary (town and country planning) P Raghavendra Rao in Chandigarh and got assurances that issues pertaining to water and power in their complex would be resolved within a month.
“Our primary demand for a proper access road was met and we are satisfied. Several other issues pertaining to complying with building bylaws and escalation charges have been resolved,” Khanna said.
A majority of the 130 litigants has agreed to the settlement after the builder agreed to their demands, Khanna said.
Joe Saggar, from the United Kingdom, said their fight is now with the government as an external sector road (24 metres), water and power connections have to be made available by the state.
Navin Raheja, CMD, Raheja Developers, said, “We paid the external development charges and hoped infrastructure will come but it never came. A recent meeting with the authorities indicates that things are going to improve.”
On Saturday a team of HUDA officials will visit Sector 108 and 109 to take a stock of the water pipeline network, and drainage.
