Rio and Robbie to kick ball with Gurgaon kids, manage a friendly
Former Manchester United player Rio Ferdinand and United’s academy product Robbie Savage will arrive in Gurgaon on Tuesday to conduct football training sessions for children.
Former Manchester United player Rio Ferdinand and United’s academy product Robbie Savage will arrive in Gurgaon on Tuesday to conduct football training sessions for children.
According to sources, the former English Premier League stars will be visiting the Arsenal Soccer Schools centre at Pathways School in Gurgaon, where they will conduct an exclusive training session with young footballers. The training session will be followed by a friendly between Pathways School Gurgaon and Dalhousie Public School, Badhani. Ferdinand and Savage will clash as managers in the friendly.
The duo will be in the city as part of The Supporters Club -- a charitable initiative by British Telecommunications (BT) group.
Rio Ferdinand won 81 caps and played in three world cups for England. Manchester United bought him from Leeds United in July 2002 for around 30 million pounds, breaking the British transfer record at the time. He has won the Champions League and Club World Cup, six Premier League titles and three League Cups with the Red Devils.
Robbie Savage has won 39 caps for Wales. He has made over 500 appearances for a host of English clubs and won the League cup with Leicester City in 2000.
