Security tightened in Gurgaon after explosion on bus in Fatehabad
Security at crowded and sensitive places in Gurgaon, including bus stations, has been increased and random checking is being carried out
Security was increased across Gurgaon in the wake of a bomb blast in a bus that injured two persons in Fatehabad on Tuesday.
A Gurgaon police spokesperson said that security at crowded and sensitive places, including bus stations, had been upped and random frisking and checking was being carried out.
Apart from the routine checks by the police using hand-held metal detectors, bomb disposal squads and SWAT (Special Weapons and Tactics) teams have been deployed for checking in buses and at bus stations.
“People are being urged through announcements not to touch unclaimed objects,” said the spokesperson.
Two people were injured in an explosion on a private bus in Haryana on Tuesday morning - fourth of its kind incident in Haryana this year.
Last month, as many as eight persons were injured in a bomb blast apparently caused by improvised explosive device (IED). In a similar incident, an explosion occurred in an EMU train that had reached Panipat from Delhi on May 13.
A Haryana government spokesperson said that two persons were injured as a result of the explosion on Monday, which occurred in a private bus bearing registration number HR 62 8372 at 10.42 am on Bhuna-Fatehabad road.
“The bus was on way from Jakhal to Fatehabad. The spot of explosion is about 4 km from Bhuna and 20 km from Fatehabad,” he said.
Additional director general of police, law and order, Muhammad Akil said that the explosive device was in a black bag. Preliminary examination by the authorities has revealed use of sulphur-like substance, commonly used in crackers, he said.
