Sources said PM will be reviewing the progress of different ministries in implementing the decisions taken by the cabinet and the Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs since 2014 when the NDA government came to power.

“It is a stock taking exercise to see how many decisions taken by the cabinet has actually been implemented by the respective ministries. There is a growing perception of a gap between delivery of services and what was promised by the NDA government,” a government official said.

The meeting comes close on the heels of second-anniversary celebrations of the government that concluded earlier this month.

There were similar meetings in January and May where detailed presentations were made before the council of ministers of all the cabinet decisions. In that meeting, the PM gave a pep talk to his cabinet colleagues and told them to get over the “negative perception” that not much is happening in the government.

The PM had earlier decided that such meetings will be held on the last Wednesday of every month, to keep track of the performance of different ministries that have been clubbed into three categories — agriculture and related sectors, infrastructure and related sectors, and social and core sectors.
