Mitra said, “That’s my party’s secret, I am not going to divulge to the media. The decision of my party will be my decision. Mamata Banerjee takes very calculative decision and I am going to follow her instructions. I will like to stress that it’s the party which has made me, not the other way.”

Mitra expressed confidence that his party would win at least 225 seats in the Assembly election and said that Mamata Banerjee would make an emphatic comeback.

He went on to say that Mamata’s winning record had eclipsed the record set by legendary former chief minister BC Roy.

Mitra was talking to reporters today while being produced before Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate Sougata Roy Chowdhury at the Alipore Court in connection with the saradha scam.

“Just like it is difficult to break Sachin Tendulkar’s record, it will be difficult to break Mamata Banerjee’s record even in 100 years... A person (Banerjee) who has broken Bidhan Chandra Roy’s record.. I am sure that the people of Bengal will bring back Mamata Banerjee,” Mitra said.

He characterised the proposed coalition between the Congress and the CPI-M as an “alliance of robbers” and “tie-up between notes (rupees)”.

He had fought on a Trinamool Congress’ ticket and won from Kamarhati Assembly constituency in 2011 after defeating Manas Mukhopadhyay of CPI(M) by a big margin.

Mitra, who was arrested on December 12, 2014, had surrendered before the court after his bail was cancelled by Calcutta High Court on November 20.
