The state government is pulling out all the stops to speed up investment flow and attract investors, both domestic and foreign, to Madhya Pradesh. To ensure world-class industrial infrastructure at upcoming industrial hubs, the government will soon appoint a panel of consultants and architects to assist the nodal agency in project planning and implementation.

“We have invited expression of interest from reputed consultants and architects to ensure development of world-class infrastructure in the upcoming industrial hubs, such as Smart Industrial Park in Pithampur, and also upgrade infrastructure in existing industrial hubs,” Audyogik Kendra Vikas Nigam (AKVN), Indore, managing director, Kumar Purushottam, said.

The Smart Industrial Park is coming up on 478-hectare land in Pithampur, about 25 km from Indore, and will be reserved exclusively for Japanese and Korean investors.

The panel will be involved in preparation of detailed project report (DPR) apart from project management consultancy (PMC) and supervision and quality control (SQC) works and also assist in the management of the bidding process.

Welcoming the move, Pithampur industry association president, Gautam Kothari, said the government should focus on the development of not only industrial infrastructure, but also social infrastructure to attract medium and large enterprises. “The appointment of panel should ensure a holistic development of industrial hubs instead of piecemeal and haphazard development,” he said.

AKVN Indore, a subsidiary of MP Trade and Investment Facilitation Corporation, is the nodal agency for major industrial hubs in western MP. At present, AKVN, Indore, is developing more than 4,000 hectares of land in 17 industrial areas spread over seven districts of the state.

The state government also plans to recruit agencies for carrying out electronic total station survey and differential global positioning system (DGPS) survey for various industrial and other areas proposed to be developed in western MP.

The Madhya Pradesh government recently signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Japan External Trade Organisation (JETRO) to facilitate Japanese investments in the proposed Smart Industrial Park.

The state government, which is also holding talks with South Korean investors, will organise an investment seminar exclusively for Japanese and Korean investors later this year.
