This, Dr Gupta contested, is an insult to the medical fraternity as only a doctor wears a white coat. His petition added that the advertisment has hurt his feelings.

The additional chief judicial magistrate at Raisinghnagar admitted the petition and ordered a judicial investigation under Section 202 of Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPC). The next hearing will be on May 19.

The petitioner said he recognises the importance of yoga and ayurveda but these people (referring to Ramdev and his trusted aide Balkrishna) have damaged the reputation of doctors in their greed to promote their products.

Dr Gupta contended that the duo are cheating people in the name of religion, yoga and ayurveda.

Soni said the petitioner accused Ramdev of giving medical opinion and medicines without holding any valid medical eligibility.
