“During the protest, a group ventured out and started to break window panes and doors of shops at Bhoiwada. They also broke glasses of private vehicles and buses,” said a police officer adding that a case has been registered. Police stated that the protests were over demolition of structure at Dadar from where Dr BR Ambedkar launched his political movement.

The protesters were heading towards Bhoiwada police station and were denied permission for the same. “We have recorded the incidents on camera and are identifying the protesters involved in damaging property,” said another police officer.

Anandraj Ambedkar, the grandson of Dr BR Ambedkar, filed an FIR against former IAS officer and state information commissioner Ratnakar Gaikwad and Madhukar Kamble, trustee of the People’s Improvement Trust after demolition of the Ambedkar Bhavan in the early hours of Saturday. The society was founded by Dr Ambedkar.

Anandraj and Prakash (both grandsons of Ambedkar) have alleged that Gaikwad was behind the demolition and he should face action for the same. They have also given an ultimatum of 48 hours to the police for arresting Gaikwad in the case.
