The family of a 63-year-old Mumbai-based businessman, who has been missing since December 16 last year, has started a social media campaign to find him.
Mahavir Jain, an IIT-Bombay alumnus, was last seen at the city’s Bhandup railway station. Jain had left the house after telling his family that he was going to his workplace.
According to the CCTV footage at the railway station, he was last seen at 9:40am, trying to board a train. A missing person’s complaint was registered on December 17. “The CCTV footage is not clear so we don’t know which train he boarded,” Jain’s son Akshay said.
Akshay has taken to Facebook in order to find his father and members of the IIT-B alumni association are also helping him in the search. Apart from a campaign on Facebook, Akshay has also started one on WhatsApp to reach out to more people.
“We have tried every source possible, including relatives, his friends, business acquaintances, as well as people at IIT-B, where he has been in touch with the management for work. As of now we hoping to find him soon,” Akshay said.
“We are trying to help publicise this information using our network and it seems to be reaching out to a much larger audience. We are hoping he is united with his family soon,” said a spokesperson for the IIT-B alumni association.
