Residents have requested the Noida authority several times to take necessary steps to ensure that the pollution is contained.

Traffic movement on the road is also very high and dust particles are carried to the residential area, affecting the quality of air.

Residents of sectors 22, 24, 26, 27, 30, 31, 33, 34, 35, 52, 59, 60, 61 and Chaura have appealed to the district pollution department to inspect the site.

“We wrote to NP Singh, the district magistrate of Gautam Budh Nagar and to the regional officer of Uttar Pradesh pollution control board (UPPCB). Our members have been voicing their concern as dust and strong winds cause problems for the elderly,” AN Dhawan, secretary general of the federation of Noida residents’ welfare association (FONRWA), said.

“I have been feeling sick due to the high presence of dust particles in the atmosphere of late, carried from the nearby construction site on MP-2 road. We are helpless but we at least expect the administration to ensure that dust particles do not fly,” Rajeev Garg of Sector 27 said.

According to residents, the construction was started a year ago without ensuring adequate steps to prevent pollution.

“Many elderly residents are having breathing problems due to the dust pollution and it is unbearable in our sector,” Mahipal Singh of Sector 35 said.

The pollution department officials said they will inspect the site and direct the department concerned to check pollution and also initiate action.

Brij Lal Awasthi, the regional officer of UPPCB at Gautam Budh Nagar, said, “I will inspect the construction site and initiate necessary action (in case of violation).”

The Noida authority is undertaking construction of the 4.8-kilometre elevated corridor on the MP 2 road to ease traffic movement Sector 18 and Sector 60.

NP Singh, the district magistrate of Gautam Budh Nagar, on Monday directed officials of the Noida authority and the pollution control board to inspect the site and submit a report on the issue.
