Hundreds of homebuyers of various projects being developed by Jaypee Group on Saturday protested against the builder over “inordinate delay” in the handover of their flats in Noida.
The irate protesters blocked traffic on the Noida-Greater Noida Expressway for nearly half an hour, from 11.15am to 11.45am. They allowed the traffic movement to resume after superintendent of police (city) Dinseh Yadav’s intervention.
Over 200 disgruntled buyers gathered at the Sector 129 office of the developer and shouted slogans, demanding immediate handover of the flats.
Homebuyers of the projects have held more than 10 protests in the past three-four years. Many of them, who booked their flat in 2009, are yet to get possession. They say they face a lot of problems as they have to pay house rents as well as housing loan installments.
“I booked my house in JP KOSMOS in 2010, but am yet to get the possession,” said Neeti Jain, a flat buyer.
“I booked a flat in Wishtown in 2009 and still do not have the possession. The flat was supposed to be delivered in 2012,” said Asheesh Kumar, another flat buyer.
Projects of Japee Group are spread over four localities-- Sector 128 to Sector 132—and have 35,000 units. Not more than 5,000 buyers have got possession so far.
After the protest, the buyers met the developer.
Sachin Gaur, one of the directors of Jaypee Group, said, “We held a meeting with the homebuyers on Saturday and assured them of possessions soon. The buyers are satisfied. We have been meeting the buyers frequently to update them on the status of their projects.”
