Rs. 380 crore sanctioned for 21 new substations in Ghaziabad
The Central government has sanctioned Rs. 380 crore for the 21 power distribution substations proposed for Ghaziabad.
The Central government has sanctioned Rs. 380 crore for electrification works in Ghaziabad where 21 distribution substations have been proposed to augment power supply in the coming years.
The funds were sanctioned under the Integrated Power Development Scheme (IPDS) meant for urban electricity infrastructure and the Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Gram Jyoti Yojna (DDUGJY) for rural areas.
“The amount of Rs. 380 crore was sanctioned after detailed project reports (DPRs) were prepared for the project. Tenders will be floated soon and the work will then begin,” Ghaziabad MP, General (retired) VK Singh, said in the city on Wednesday.
According to the DPRs, Rs. 448.22 crore is proposed under the two Central schemes. A total of 21 new distribution substations (33/11KV) are proposed under both the schemes, including two at Parpa and Kheda under the DDUGJY scheme.
The other 19 substations in urban areas are proposed at Sector 1 in Vasundhara, Kaushambi 2, Site 4 industrial area at Sahibabad, Raj Nagar 2, Sector 1 in Vaishali, Shalimar Garden 2, Sector 13 in Vasundhara, Raj Nagar Extension (Noor Nagar), Mohan Nagar (Harsha compound), Kavi Nagar 3, Delhi border and Haj House (near river Hindon), among others.
The schemes also provide for augmenting the existing 10 substations (33/11Kv), including nine under the IPDS scheme in urban areas.
Land for the development of substations is to be provided by agencies like Ghaziabad development authority, the municipal corporation, UP State Industrial Development Corporation, the housing board and the concerned gram sabhas.
According to the electricity department, they have spoken to various agencies and land for 11 of 21 proposed substations has been made available so far.
“We will be taking up the issue with the district magistrate and other agencies to provide us land. If the land is made available, a single substation would require six months to be completed,” said Arvind Rajvedi, chief engineer (distribution), Paschimanchal Vidyut Vitaran Nigam Limited.
