According to the progress report, the piling work on the track is 100% complete, 95% of pile caps are in place and 90% piers have already been installed along the corridor.

Once this Rs 845 crore corridor is ready, commuters will no longer have to go to Rajiv Chowk Metro station to take Line 2 (Huda City Centre to Jehangirpuri) as the corridor will form a ring route and connect Botanic Garden station with Hauz Khas station via Okhla Bird Sanctuary, Kalindi Kunj and Kalkaji stations.

According to Noida Authority officials, trials on the link, which will connect to DMRC’s magenta line, will begin from September 1, 2016.

“After conducting trials for four months, the Metro will be able to carry passengers,” said Pramod Kumar Aggarwal, additional chief executive officer of the Noida authority.

“We are satisfied with the progress of the work -- we are three months ahead of schedule. The first target for completion of the track was March 2017. As per the earlier schedule, the trials were supposed to start by December 2016,” Aggarwal said.

Work on the track started in December 2014.Once this track is in place, Noida will have lines — the blue line and the magenta line. The progress report also said the 6.8-km City Centre to Sector 62 link is 15% ready.
