ATM broken; robbery bid caught on CCTV

Just four days after miscreants decamped with nearly Rs 12 lakh from an unguarded ATM at Basti Bawa Khel, a miscreant made a similar attempt at Shaheed Babu Labh Singh Nagar on Wednesday, but failed.
CCTV footage showed a man wearing a mask and carrying an iron rod entering the ATM kiosk at 3.18 am. The man is seen breaking open the ATM but struggling to open the cash boxes.
The bank had no security guard and the main shutter of the kiosk had been downed. The man fled the spot after a car stopped outside.
Senior police officials rushed to the ATM in the morning and began a probe. A case was registered against unknown persons at the Basti Bawa Khel police station.
There is still no headway in the earlier robbery incident, which took place on January 16.
