Amarinder said chief minister Parkash Singh Badal’s popularity was on the decline and to prevent a further erosion of his support base, he may go for snap polls.

“Badal knows that his popularity graph is going down and in order to salvage the situation, he might go for early elections”, he said.

“While they (Badals and Majithias) have amassed huge wealth and are growing richer by the day, Punjab is on the brink of going bankrupt”, Amarinder said.

Reiterating that the Congress would adopt “one family, one ticket’ policy for the upcoming elections, Amarinder said even his family was bound by the same rule.

“The Congress is not like the Badals. They have seven ministers in the state cabinet besides one in the Union cabinet,” Amarinder said while alleging that Badal could never look beyond his family. “What to speak of Punjab, he is not prepared to share anything even with his senior party colleagues”, said Amarinder,

“We want to provide opportunities to those who have a potential to grow as good leaders but don’t have political connections”, he said.
