The operation was part of the ongoing drive against prohibited material, including drugs, in jails. The four-hour operation that began at 6am was led by senior superintendent of police (SSP) Rajinder Singh. He was accompanied by eight superintendents of police (SPs) and deputy superintendents of police (DSPs) besides over 400 personnel.
Eleven mobile phones, seven mobile SIM cards, three mobile chargers, one syringe and silver wrappers used for consuming heroin were recovered from the jail, said a spokesperson.
A case has been registered against two inmates: Satnam Sing of Bath Kalan, Patiala, and Rajan Kumar of Mohalla Abaadpura, Jalandhar, he said.
SSP Rajinder Singh said investigations are on to find how the prohibited items reached the jail, and suitable action will be taken against the guilty.
He said no drugs were found during the operation that ended at 10am.
