Congress leader Manpreet Singh Badal, who was here to take stock of the wheat procurement in grain markets of the district, said that the Congress was all set to bring about a radical and revolutionary poll manifesto soon.
“I can’t reveal all aims of the Congress to be mentioned in the manifesto, but the party will bring in a strong Jan Lokpal bill, in which even the chief minister will come under its ambit. The Lokpal will be from outside the state,” Manpreet said.
He said the Congress government would appoint a Lokpal in every district, so that every person can approach him to lodge a complaint of corruption.
On the drug issue, Manpreet said that Captain might have claimed one-month time to eradicate drugs in the state, but it, according to him, would not take even an hour to stop the drug supply for the Congress after coming into power.
“To stop the flow of drugs into the state is like stopping flowing water from a tap, but the government itself does not want to stop it, but we will stop this supply within one hour after coming into power,” he claimed.
He said the Congress would free the police of political pressure and would let them work independently. “The party manifesto has promised jobs for all the people, educated or illiterate,” he said.
Asked about a list of 64 Congress candidates uploaded on a social website, Manpreet said that it was all false as Congress has not declared any candidates so far.
Accompanied by Congress leaders, including Darshan Singh Brar, Malti Thapar, Harjot Kamal, Ravi Grewal and Kuldeep Singh Dhos, Manpreet visited dozens of grain markets here and surrounding districts including Bathinda, Ferozepur and Faridkot.
