Several senior leaders of the Punjab Congress, including some legislators, on Sunday sought the expulsion of former MP Jagmeet Singh Brar from the party for gross indiscipline and rebellious activities. His acts have been harming the party’s interest in the state, they said.
In an appeal to the party high command, the leaders said: “Brar had embarked upon a dangerous and destructive path to sabotage the party’s ongoing campaign in the state. Jagmeet Brar must be expelled at the earliest.”

“Not that he (Brar) holds any influence or carries any weight, but he is only playing into the hands of the opposition parties to undermine Congress interests”, said the statement signed by Rajinder Kaur Bhattal, Lal Singh, Ashwani Sekhri, Kuljit Nagra, Raja Warring, Brahm Mohindra, Preneet Kaur, Sadhu Singh Dharamsot, Jagmohan Singh Kang, Sukhjinder Randhawa and others.
They also expressed surprise as how such a leader could be tolerated in the party when he was indulging in open defiance with obvious intent to undermine the party’s interests and prospects in the state. Brar had already been rejected by the AAP and the BJP, they claimed.
