He was initially admitted to Joshi Hospital in the city and was recently shifted to SGL Charitable Hospital in Jalandhar. He was reportedly in an inebriated condition at the time of the accident. Ruling out any foul play, deceased’s brother Jasjeet Singh, who is also in the police department, had said that it was an accident.
Singh was attached as a gunman with an NRI without any official orders. Authorities had suspended Kartarpur SHO Sukhjeet Singh and Manmohan on Wednesday. The SHO had verbally attached the head constable with the NRI who is close to him.
The NRI and Manmohan had allegedly assaulted sarpanch Kanti Mohan at Mathhada Kalan village in Phillaur on April 19 night over a panchayat land dispute. A special investigation team formed to investigate the case had submitted its report on Wednesday.
