“We have been intimated by PIDB that the funds will most probably be released by Friday,” said Yadav.

“There are many formalities that the board (PIDB) has to go through before releasing the funds,” he further added.

Though, earlier, Yadav had claimed that the funds will be released by the end of January, but it was delayed.

Pertinently, Yadav is also the chairman of the advisory committee formed under the Urban and Rural Regeneration Mission.

Initially, PIDB will only release 40% of the funds allocated for rural infrastructure development and 25% of the funds allocated for urban infrastructure development.

A total of Rs 123 crore have been allocated for rural development, out of which the district will now receive Rs 49.2 crore.

Meanwhile, for urban development within the municipal limits and including some areas of Kartarpur and Adampur, around Rs 26 crore will be received by Jalandhar municipal corporation (MC).

The MC had submitted an estimate of total Rs 104 crore in the first phase, which was sanctioned by PIDB.

Meanwhile, the MC has again sent an estimate of Rs 39.61 crore to PIDB, which was reportedly sanctioned during the last meeting.
