Ludhiana: Commerce student tops, girls retain edge

Proving their mettle, Ludhiana girls have once again outshined boys in Class-12 Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) results declared on Saturday. Of the top five city toppers across all four streams (medical, non-medical, commerce and humanities), four are girls.

It was a day of celebrations for her parents and teachers, as Mudita Bansal, a student of commerce stream at Sacred Heart Convent School, Sarabha Nagar, bagged the first position with 98.2% marks. Simar Sachdeva, a student of medical stream in the same school, came second with 97.4%. Humanities student Janhvi, who also is a student of the same school, grabbed the third spot after securing 97.2% marks. The fourth position is shared by non-medical students Rohan Jain of Green Land School and Navdeep Kaur of BCM, Basant Avenue, with 97% marks.

Approximately 15,000 students from the district appeared in Class-12 exams. Overall pass percentage is 83.85%.

Mudita wants to become RBI governor

Mudita Bansal, who left television and sports for her studies, says, “My hardwork paid off. I want to become RBI governor, as this is my father’s dream. He once said to me that he wanted to see my signature on Rs 1,000 note.”

She has scored 100 marks math, accounts and economics. Her father, Ashish Bansal is a businessman and mother Shelly Bansal is a homemaker.

In parents footsteps

Simar Sachdeva said, “In Class 10, I decided that I want to become a neurosurgeon. However, since childhood I aspired to be an IAS officer.” Her father Dr Gurinder Sachdeva is a psychiatrist and mother Dr Harleen Sachdeva is a physician.

Janhvi aspires to be a lawyer

“I was not expecting to top the humanities stream. I was expecting 95% marks, and the result has come as a surprise. I want to take admission in Army Law College, Mohali,” said Janhvi Kochar. Her father Charanjit Singh is a businessman and mother Sonia Kochar is a dietitian.

Rohan credits success to family

Rohan Jain said, “The credit of my success goes to my parents as they motivated me a lot. I want to become a computer science engineer. I have cleared JEE Main and now I will appear for JEE advance.” His father Rakesh Jain is a businessman and mother Anita Jain is a homemaker.

Navdeep wants to become computer engineer

Death of Navdeep Kaur’s grandmother two days ago had shadowed her happiness. When result was declared, she was at cremation ground, as her father reached India from Canada last night. “I aim to become a computer engineer and want to take admission in Toronto University,” she said. Her father Bhupinder Singh is a software engineer in Canada and mother Baljit Kaur is a mathematics lecturer in a government school.
