Cancer mortality

In 2013, a total of 287 people died of cancer in Chandigarh. Of them, 164 were males, while 123 were females.

The cancer mortality was recorded highest in Sector 38 (west) with 22 deaths, which included 10 women. It is followed by Manimajra which reported 18 deaths, including eight women. Dadumajra Colony, Sector 44, and Sector 45 followed with 10 deaths each.

REASONS

The population of the southern sectors is higher as compared to other sectors, which could be one of the reason behind high cancer incidences.

Rest, age and sex distribution of the population should also be looked into.
