Speaking on the event, Bahl lashed out at Bansal, saying, “We lost the mayoral elections as the intention of some our senior party leaders was not clean. Now we will make sure Tewari is made to contest the next Parliamentary elections from Chandigarh.”

Tewari also assured people that their all kinds of problems with the UT administration will be addressed on priority basis.

Most local leaders, who spoke during the event, projected Tewari as the next MP from Chandigarh.

Among others present at the public meeting included Bir Devinder Singh Sidhu, secretary, All India Youth Congress, Maninder Dhillon, president, Chandigarh Youth Congress, Ravinder Singh Pali, former mayor, Gurbachan Singh, former general secretary, and JN Shastri, former vice-president.

After Bansal lost in the Lok Sabha elections last year, Tewari has been actively taking interest in the city politics.

He is also learnt to have been held several meetings with residents from different areas at his house, which exerts see as a sign of preparation for a bigger role.
