The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Monday asked Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who is visiting Chandigarh to celebrate the International Yoga Day on Tuesday, to stop befooling the people of Punjab and fulfil the promises made to the Punjabis before the Lok Sabha elections.
Addressing the media, AAP state convener Sucha Singh Chhotepur said every time Modi visits Chandigarh or Punjab, people hope that the promises made by him would be fulfilled, but in the end they get nothing.
“This time, Modi must announce a package for Punjab as the state is facing financial crunch,” said Chhotepur.
Chhotepur said yoga was good for mind and body but it should not be imposed on the people.
Stating that Modi had turned a blind eye to the drug problem in Punjab even after raising the issue in his “Mann Ki Baat”, the APP leader said PM was not taking any action against the people responsible for the menace. “Let the Enforcement Directorate and the Central Bureau of Investigation work independently to expose the drug lords in Punjab,” he added.
