Sukhbir calls on PM, thanks him for CCL, Sehajdhari law
Punjab deputy chief minister Sukhbir Singh Badal on Monday called on Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Delhi to thank him for the release of cash credit limit (CCL) for wheat procurement and passing of a bill in Parliament to bar Sehajdhari Sikhs from voting in the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) polls.
Punjab deputy chief minister Sukhbir Singh Badal on Monday called on Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Delhi to thank him for the release of cash credit limit (CCL) for wheat procurement and passing of a bill in Parliament to bar Sehajdhari Sikhs from voting in the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) polls.
A state government spokesman said here that Sukhbir had thanked Modi for intervening in the interest of Punjab farmers, who he said had contributed to the country’s be self-sufficient in food-grain production. He told the PM that the timely release of the CCL has earned him the gratitude of entire farming community of Punjab.
Concerning the Sehajdhari issue, he said the amended law would safeguard the interests of Sikhs and the Centre had played a constructive role in this sensitive issue. Modi is reported to have assured him about priority to the state in future also.
