The rising passenger crowd in the past few days has even reflected in the brisk movement of vehicles in and out of the station.

Besides, over 15 lakh migrants — working in the financial capital of the state — who are planning to visit their hometown in Bihar and UP have added to the rush.

Sampark Kranti Express (12445/12446) plying between Katra (Jammu) and New Delhi has currently a waiting list of 375 for sleeper and 111 for three-tier AC and 38 for two-tier AC.

As many as 21 trains ply between Jammu and Ludhiana, and all of them are running in waiting till June 25.

Moreover, gates of Char Dham temples, Hemkunt Sahib and other seasonal religious spots have also opened, and passengers in huge numbers are thronging to these destinations, too.

Trains running to Patna from Ludhiana also have no ticket availability. The Amritsar Howrah mail has also reached “no room” status for entire month.

“During vacations, people plan to religious spots, like Hemkunt Sahib, Haridwar, Vaishnu Devi, Badrinath, Hazoor Sahib and many more. Most-visited places, include Jammu, Patna, Amritsar, Rishikesh, Jaipur, Ahmedabad, Ajmer, New Delhi, Varanasi and Saharsa,” said Salaria.

“To avoid inconvenience to people and curb the summer rush, some new trains have also been started by the government. But, as the number of trains are increased, rush of people also increases at the same pace,” he added.

Ram Parkash, a migrant labourer, said, “I have been trying to book a train to UP for past two months, but there is no availability at all.”
