“The body was kept in the house three days after the murder and police brought the body to a hospital for post-mortem. The woman has been booked under Section 302 (murder) of the Indian penal Code,” said, superintendent of police (SP investigation) Sewa Singh Malhi.

The couple, hailing from Bir Khurd in Mansa district, and were living in Ajit Nagar, Sangrur, in a rented accommodation for the past four years.

Navneet was a small-time construction contractor and the couple had two children — seven-year-old son and four-year-old daughter. “As per preliminary investigation, Kuldeep killed Navneet as she doubted that he had illicit relations with his sister-in-law (elder brother’s wife). Investigations are on and police are working on all aspects. She is on run and will be arrested soon,” Malhi said.
