“I am glad to know that I will be able to help some students. I feel honoured,” says Sangram. The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has also added a chapter on Sangram’s life to the seventh standard Hindi textbooks.

“Through this scholarship, students will get several opportunities in both sports and education. I want to create as many opportunities as possible for people inclined towards sports,” says Sangram, who plans to start a wrestling league in India soon.

Even after completing an MA in History, the wrestler feels that he hasn’t studied enough. “My elder brother is a lecturer in a college in Haryana, and my eldest sister was a teacher. I feel they are more educated than I am. I, too, used to dream of becoming a teacher. Teaching is a respectful job. Teachers lay the foundation for society,” says Sangram, who will also visit the college to meet and encourage the recipients of the scholarship at least twice a year.
