Those two boundaries in the penultimate over proved costly for the Proteas in the end.

Over 19: 11 off Morris and the wicket of Samuels. 114/7

18.5 Morris to Samuels, OUT

He’s got him - it’s a huge wicket! Samuels stepped to leg, as he so often has in this innings, and tried to pull the ball over midwicket but could only sky it to AB de Villiers running in at long-on

Over 18: 3 off Wiese. 103/6

Over 17: 1 off Tahir and two big wickets. 100/6

16.5 Imran Tahir to Sammy, OUT

Bowled him with a wrong’un! A stunning delivery given the pressure, and Tahir’s off on one of his celebrations - quite rightly too!

16.4 Imran Tahir to Russell, OUT

Huge slog across the line from Russell and Miller takes the catch easily at deep midwicket, barely moving a muscle!

Over 16: 8 off Morris. 99/4

Over 15: 4 off Tahir. 91/4

Over 14: 3 off Phangiso and another crucial wicket, of Bravo. 87/4

13.6 Phangiso to Bravo, OUT

Gone! Wasteful slap by Bravo to a fullish delivery outside off, opening the face, to backward point

Over 13: Expensive over from Rabada, three boundaries off it. 84/3

Over 12: 4 off Wiese and the wicket of Charles. 70/3

11.1 Wiese to Charles, OUT

Outside off, a huge swipe but he’s skied this to the moon and back! Faf is under it at cover or thereabouts, and takes it comfortably, tumbling to the deck but pouching it safely

Over 11: 9 off Phangiso, including a 101-metre six from Charles. 66/2

Over 10: 6 off Tahir. 57/2

Over 9: 6 off Phangiso and 50 up for West Indies. 51/2

Over 8: 7 off Wiese. 45/2

Over 7: 1 off Phangiso. 38/2

Over 6: 5 off Wiese and the wicket of Fletcher. 37/2

5.3 Wiese to Charles, OUT

Rossouw’s done it for South Africa - played out to the off side, Rossouw’s in quickly and sends in a return. A direct hit! He’s short - poor running but a brilliant throw!

Over 5: 2 off Tahir. 32/1

Over 4: 11 again, this time off Morris. 30/1

Over 3: 11 off Rabada, including a six from Fletcher. 19/1

Over 2: 3 off Morris. 8/1

Over 1: The big, big wicket of Chris Gayle and 5 runs in Kagiso Rabada’s first over. 5/1

0.5 Rabada to Gayle, OUT

What a delivery from Rabada - he’s knocked over the king, and is the new king a South African?! What a ball, swinging in late on the left-hander who attempted a cross-batted stroke and lost his off stump. Bowled him!

After captain Darren Sammy won the toss and put the Proteas in to bat, Hashim Amla was out run out in the first over. The fall of regular wickets, including that of star batsman AB de Villiers left South Africa reeling at 47-5.

A 50-run partnership between wicketkeeper Quinton de Kock, who topscored with 47, and David Wiese (28) helped South Africa add some measure of respectability to their total.

Andre Russell, Chris Gayle and Dwayne Bravo took two wickets apiece for West Indies.
