A 14-year-old girl was allegedly abducted and gang raped in Sagar, 186 kilometers north east of Bhopal, by two accused but she managed to free herself from their clutches after her pet dog reached the spot and attacked the accused, said police. Both the accused have been arrested.

Motinagar police station in-charge inspector Vipin Tamrakar said the incident took place around 12.30 am on Sunday. As mosquitoes were troubling the girl she thought of burning some wheat husk to drive them away. When she came out of the house to collect husk from the barn, Reshu Ahirwar caught her hand while his accomplice Puneet Ahirwar clamped her mouth and took her to a nearby vacant house, where Reshu raped her while Puneet helped him.

Meanwhile, the victim’s pet dog reached the place and attacked Puneet and in the commotion the girl managed to free herself and started shouting for help, waking the neighbours. The two accused fled from spot at that time, but were later arrested.

A case was lodged under Indian Penal Code sections dealing with gang rape, abduction to commit rape and criminal intimidation and Section 4 , 6 of Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act.
