Sooryavanshi trailer launch: Akshay Kumar, Katrina Kaif, Ajay Devgn, Ranveer Singh come together in epic photo
The trailer of Sooryavanshi is being unveiled in a grand event in Mumbai, which has Akshay Kumar, Ajay Devgn and Ranveer Singh in attendance.
The trailer of Rohit Shetty’s new cop drama Sooryavanshi is being launched amid great fanfare at a Mumbai multiplex in Mumbai on Monday. Akshay Kumar, who plays the titular character – Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) chief DCP Veer Sooryavanshi, arrived in style on a bike.
Akshay was seen in an all-black look – he wore a T-shirt with the words ‘Aa rahi hai police’ written on it, paired with a jacket and pants. In a tweet, he joked that he ditched the helicopter and opted for a bike to beat the Mumbai traffic.

Director Rohit Shetty also made a stylish entry in a yellow luxury car. He, too, wore a T-shirt with ‘Aa rahi hai police’ on it and posed for the paparazzi in front of the car. Ajay Devgn, who will make a special appearance in Sooryavanshi as his iconic character Inspector Bajirao Singham, also came to the trailer launch wearing a special T-shirt.
Sooryavanshi, which is the fourth instalment in Rohit Shetty’s cop universe, after Ajay Devgn’s Singham and Singham Returns, and Ranveer Singh’s Simmba, features Katrina Kaif as the leading lady. She will be seen playing a doctor in the film.
Katrina arrived in an orange bandage bodycon dress. With Sooryavanshi, she and Akshay reunite on the big screen after a decade. The popular onscreen couple was last seen in Farah Khan’s Tees Maar Khan, which released in 2010.
Karan Johar, who is co-producing Sooryavanshi under his banner Dharma Productions, joined the team of the film for a group photo. Ranveer Singh, who will make a cameo appearance in the film as his Simmba character Inspector Sangram Bhalerao, arrived late due to traffic.
Ranveer shared a group selfie with the team of Sooryavanshi - Akshay, Katrina, Ajay, Rohit and Karan - on his Instagram account. “#SooryavanshiTrailer out now. Link in Bio,” he wrote.
Karan said that the excitement for the trailer of Sooryavanshi was unprecedented. “There is palpable excitement in the room. I don’t think in my years of producing and making films I have seen this level of energy for the release of a trailer and justifiably so, because this is a universe which Hindi cinema hasn’t seen,” he said.
Ranveer said that he was “too excited” to be a part of Sooryavanshi, while Akshay said that in his nearly three-decade-long career, he never saw such a huge crowd at his trailer launch. “Rohit has made a fabulous movie. I hope the audience will like it,” Akshay said, adding that Katrina was “fabulous” in the film.
Ajay said that not just men, but even women were reacting very positively to the cop films. He also teased Ranveer about putting “lipstick”. “Mujhe Ajay sir ki pappi leni thi toh lips moist kar raha tha main (I was moistening my lips before kissing Ajay sir),” Ranveer told Akshay and the crowd, lauding Ajay’s entry scene.
Akshay also taunted “late latif” Ranveer for coming 40 minutes late and keeping them all waiting. Ajay said that Ranveer gave the excuse that his wife, Deepika Padukone, lived in town so it was a long commute to the suburbs.
Sooryavanshi is presented by Reliance Entertainment and produced by Rohit Shetty Picturez in association with Dharma Productions and Cape of Good Films. Sooryavanshi releases on March 24.
