Ranveer Singh is amazed by Deepika Padukone’s Chhapaak look, says ‘so proud of you, baby’

Ranveer Singh was one of the first ones to comment when wife Deepika Padukone shared her first look from Meghna Gulzar’s Chhapaak.

Bollywood actors and newlyweds Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone never shy away from flaunting their love on social media and in keeping with the tradition, Ranveer was one of the first ones to comment when Deepika shared her first look from Meghna Gulzar’s Chhapaak. Deepika’s face see to be covered in complete prosthetic makeup in the image. She plays a character named Malti, based on acid attack survivor Laxmi Agarwal.

Ranveer wrote, “Astonishing! What a remarkable prospect! Proud of you baby! I love you! Go get ‘em!” when Deepika shared her look from Chhapaak and wrote, “A character that will stay with me forever...#Malti.”

Priyanka Chopra also commented on the post and called Deepika amazing. The first look attracted wide praises for Deepika. However, the most empowering reaction came from Kangana Ranaut’s sister Rangoli Chandel. “No matter how unfair and unjust the world is we musn’t reflect what we hate, this is commendable on @deepikapadukone and @meghnagulzar part, being an acid attack survivor I pledge to be their biggest cheerleader #Chhapaak,” she wrote. Alia Bhatt, Rajkummar Rao and Abhishek Bachchan also joined others in showering praises on the Padmaavat star.

 

Earlier, taking about the film, Meghna had claimed fans would be seeing a whole new Deepika in the film. “You won’t be seeing Deepika, you know. You will be seeing a disfigured Deepika,” the filmmaker said at a Chennai event. “There is an uncanny similarity between the survivor and Deepika.”

Chhapaak also features Vikrant Massey and is set for a January 10, 2020 release. This will be Deepika’s first film since her blockbuster Padmaavat.
