India vs West Indies, 3rd ODI, Highlights: Shardul’s fiery innings take India to victory

India vs Windies: Catch all the Highlights from the 3rd ODI between India and West Indies from Cuttack as the series is on the line.

Ind vs WI, Live Highlights: Shardul Thakur 17 off 6 balls as he fired India to a four wicket-win. Things turned tense after Virat Kohli was dismissed for 85. He had to walk back for 85. India had got off to a good start with KL Rahul and Rohit Sharma scoring fifties each. But the middle-order batsmen Shreyas Iyer, Rishabh Pant and Kedar Jadhav all were dismissed in quick succession, which turned the match. With the match win, India have sealed the series 2-1.

21:40 hrs: India need one run to win. Shardul Thakur has put India on cusp of victory, with 16 off 6 balls. India look to get a quick single, but is that run out? Wait, it’s an AUTO NO BALL! India have already won the match. IND 316/6 and win the match by 4 wickets. India win series 2-1.

21:30 hrs: SIX! A short ball from Cottrell to Shardul Thakur, and he has smashed it out of the park with a slog hit. Equation now, 13 off 15. He follows it with a sensational four. 9 off 4.

21:21 hrs: GONE! Chopped on to the stumps! Kohli has knocked himself out. Paul strikes. Stunned silence at Barbati. IND 286/6

21:15 hrs: FOUR! Shot delivery from Holder and Ravindra Jadeja pulls it towards midwicket for a boundary. 45 overs gone, India are 278/5.

21:07 hrs: Virat Kohli struck two boundaries in the previous over from Kharry Pierre and he has once again brought the required rate below 8. He moves onto 80s now.

20:58 hrs: India are going slow about the business. They have crossed the 250-run mark. Still need 65 to win in 51 balls, which is very possible. So no need to hit the panic buttons yet.

20:54 hrs: Some nervy moments for India as Jadhav and Kohli hesitate while trying to sneak in singles. There was a run out chance, but the ball missed the target. Pressure can cost a mistake or two sometimes.

20:45 hrs: GONE! Kedar Jadhav has been cleaned up by a screamer from Sheldon Cottrell. India go five wickets down. Kohli is looking worried now. IND 228/5

20:44 hrs: Kohli, Jadhav are dealing in boundaries. Two fours in the previous over, and one more in this over. This has been a great partnership already and India are keeping just par with the run rate. No need for extra risks.

20:34 hrs: FIFTY! Kohli brings up his half century in 51 balls. He is keeping India in the hunt here.

20:26 hrs: GONE! Pant has chopped on to the stumps. Holder strikes. IND 201/4

20:23 hrs: FOUR! Pant goes fine. Just a short wrist movement and this one will race to the boundary ropes. India cross 200 run mark. But the job is far from done.

20:13 hrs: GONE! Shreyas Iyer flicks it to the fielder in the deep. The umpire takes a look at the low catch, but it was cleanly taken by Jospeh. IND 188/3

20:08 hrs: A premeditated shot from Kohli, as he smashed a short one from Holder for a boundary. The run rate was increasing and Kohli decided to do something about it. He goes for another one in the next delivery.

20:00 hrs: GONE! KL Rahul miscues his flick, gets atop edge and the ball lands in Shai Hope’s wicket. Joseph strikes. IND 167/2

19:51 hrs: SIX! KL Rahul smashes one out of the park and reach 75-run mark. He is on course to get a back-to-back hundreds in this series.

19:44 hrs: Virat Kohli and KL Rahul are keeping India steady on course in the match after Rohit’s fall. India 146/1

19:34 hrs: FOUR! Kohli gets away with a beautiful boundary. Just flick and it goes racing between the two fielders inside the cirlce.

19:30 hrs: Misfield! KL Rahul gets away with a boundary, due to a lazy effort from Windies fielders. Pollard is furious. He knows his side cannot afford this.

19:24 hrs: GONE! Jason Holder manages to produce a nick off Rohit Sharma, and the ball lands safely in Hope’s hands behind the stumps. IND 122/1

19:22 hrs: Rohit’s mishit lands safely. He gets lucky. He manages to get past Kohli’s mark as the highest-run getter in the ODIs.

19:10 hrs: FIFTY! Rohit Sharma brings up his half century in 52 balls. He is in sensational for right now, and he would be eager to convert this to a ton. KL Rahul also brings up his fifty here.

19:05 hrs: Rohit, Rahul take India past the 100-run mark. West Indies bowlers are looking puzzled at the moment. A need for a wicket is imminent right now.

18:59 hrs: Windies look for 1st wicket- The bowlers are not looking like taking a wicket and this is proving to be a huge headache for Pollard.

18:42 hrs: Solid start - These two openers are looking good, West Indies need a wicket. Pollard has thrown the ball to off-spinner Roston Chase.

18:20 hrs: Good start for India - This is a solid start for India, the openers need to lay a base, conditions will suit them, the pitch is true and West Indies will have to counter the dew.

18:14 hrs - Rohit is off and flying - The right-hander is looking in the mood, he is moving all around the crease and has taken the attack to the West Indies bowlers. This is a concerted change in plans, India have started their chase in the right earnest.

17:53 hrs - Chase about to commence: Sheldon Cottrell has the ball, Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul have walked out. The crowd is buzzing, this promises to be an absorbing chase.

17:26 hrs - West Indies finish strong - Pollard finished strong, West Indies have finished strong, they absolutely took off in the final overs and flew past 300. India have their task cut out.

17:17 hrs - 50 for Pollard - It has been a controlled and responsible innings by the captain. He has raised his 50 and will now go full throttle in the final few deliveries. West Indies should easily cross 300.

17:12 hrs - Pooran departs - He backs away, tries to cut the short ball up and over cover, but then does not get the timing right and Jadeja takes the catch rushing in. End of a sensational innings by Nicholas Pooran!

16:58 hrs - Pooran charges ahead - This is turning out to be a special innings by young Pooran. He is putting on a show and India have no answers at the moment. He is picking the lengths up so quickly and has put the bowling attack under a lot of pressure.

16:46 hrs: 50 for Pooran - It has been another superb innings by Nicholas Pooran, he has been brilliant all series and is continuing the stellar form. He now has the license to go for the full monty.

16:42 hrs: West Indies on the move - Pollard and Pooran have been sensible and now they are looking to attack. The stage is set for the onslaught, India need to take a wicket, they need to separate the duo.

16:30 hrs: Pooran shining again - He has been brilliant all series and he has been the pick of the batsmen this innings as well. Lovely hitting and superb balance at the crease. He will need to bat till the end of the innings.

16:13 hrs: Pollard in - After a watchful start, Kieron Pollard has taken Kuldeep Yadav downtown. This will be a good contest. India are on top, but West Indies are looking to accelerate.

15:48 hrs: Make that 2 - Sensational yorker by Saini, fast and full on off stump, Chase tries to get his bat down but the ball is far too quick. The stumps have been rattled and West Indies have now lost 2 set batsmen. India right on top.

15:44 hrs: Saini strikes - Back of a length delivery Saini, Hetmyer looks to pull it away, does not get the timing right and Kuldeep takes an easy catch down at deep fine leg. A promising innings comes to an end, this is a big wicket for India at just the right time.

15:31 hrs: Hetmyer on the attack - He has found his range and is now pressing on. Kuldeep and Jadeja were carted away over mid-wicket and now, is looking to go after Shardul Thakur. West Indies have to find a way to shift this pressure.

15:20 hrs: Chase holds the key - Chase is looking to find some momentum and he has an able partner in Shimron Hetmyer. These two have to push on if West Indies have to post a competitive total on the board.

14:56 hrs: Shami strikes - Magical move by Virat Kohli, throws the ball to Shami and the pacer responds with an absolute beauty. The ball jags back, finds the gap between bat and pad and disturbs the stumps. India are right on top here.

14:53 hrs: Pressure is on - West Indies are struggling to get a move on as the Indian spinners have applied a lot of pressure. Jadeja is bowling an excellent spell and Kuldeep is testing both these batsmen.

14:39 hrs: Jadeja strikes - The pressure was building and Jadeja has got the wicket of Lewis. It was a hack across the line but he did not get the required timing and Navdeep Saini takes a smart catch down at long on. The opening stand has been broken.

14:36 hrs: 50 has been raised - It is not a flying start but Hope and Lewis have put on a solid and sedate partnership. They now need to start accelerating as Kohli throws the ball to his spinners.

14:24 hrs: Navdeep has started well - After an erratic first over, Navdeep has hit his stride nicely. Good overs on the bounce and he has kept the Windies batsmen quiet. The pace is very impressive.

14:09 hrs: Shai Hope has been consistent - The opener has been superb for West Indies all year and he has continued his impressive from in this match as well. Looks very assured at the crease.

13:58 hrs: Good start this - After a watchful start, West Indies now have the good start. This is a good pitch and India need to pick up a wicket to set things rolling.

13:51 hrs - Hope takes wings - After a cautious start, Shai Hope has peeled off two boundaries in one over and has once again found a start. Shardul is getting the ball to move in nicely to Lewis at the other end.

13:45 hrs - Good start by India: Shami is looking in the groove, Shardul is disciplined. This is a good start by the Indian team. West Indies are wary and this pitch too looks very good.

13:32 hrs - Action starts: Shardul has the ball, Evin Lewis and Shai Hope are out there. India need to strike early with the new ball.

13:10 hrs: Virat Kohli - ‘We will bowl first. Dew will be a factor, we played a match against England and defending 380 proved to be tough. It’s a good opportunity to bowl first on this pitch. The mindset needs to be right, we have won many Tests after losing the toss, the focus should be on the larger picture. Winning toss does give a advantage, but you can’t play reckless cricket. One change for us, Deepak Chahar is out with a back injury, Navdeep Saini makes his debut.

When the stakes are high, I feel all the players lift up their socks, put up their hands. Somebody or other performs to give the team a platform from where we can go on to win the match,” said Shreyas Iyer.
