Board exam candidate ends life over exam stress in Ludhiana

 Exam stress has claimed the life of a Class 12 student in Machhiwara. The body of a 17-year-old boy, who had gone missing on March 13, was recovered from the Sirhind Canal on Wednesday.

The deceased, identified as Arshjot Singh of Urna village, was allegedly under stress due to his performance in the ongoing board exams. His father Kuldip Singh stated that Arshjot went to school on March 13 to take the exam but did not return. “He was not well-prepared and feared he won’t score well in the exam,” his father told the police in his complaint.

Machhiwara station house officer (SHO) Ramaninderjit Singh stated the initially, the boy’s cycle was found near the canal and later, his body was fished out.

The body was handed over the family members after post-mortem. The post-mortem report revealed that the teenager died due to drowning. Police have initiated inquest proceedings under Section 174 of the Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPC).
