As the 23-year-old son of liquor baron Vijay Mallya got tongues wagging for having reportedly bought a Rs 16 crore Mumbai flat for rumoured actor-girlfriend Deepika Padukone, he clears the air.

After a silence all so conspicuous, Siddharth Mallya has finally spoken. As the 23-year-old son of liquor baron Vijay Mallya got tongues wagging for having reportedly bought a Rs 16 crore Mumbai flat for rumoured actor-girlfriend Deepika Padukone, he clears the air. “Let me buy one for myself first. Please do let me know if you get it on the same price for my personnel!” he says in an interview to entertainment website, Pinkvilla.com.

In fact, he altogether writes off the romance between him and the 25-year-old film star. “Does being escorted by a brand ambassador of RCB (Royal Challengers Bangalore — his IPL team) mean dating?” he counter questions on being asked about what’s cooking between the two.

What about reports of him starting his own Bollywood production house? “Yes, I have heard the same,” he says, adding elusively, “The foundation (of that) will be on existence.” So, that’s not a ‘no’.

When asked what kind of movies he’d like to produce, he says, “I would love to see Aamir Khan and Salman Khan sharing screen together, and repeat Andaz Apna Apna’s magic.” And star in a movie himself, perhaps? “Do I need that kind of fame? I face enough cameras without makeup, and frankly I hate being the centre of attraction,” he says.

Meanwhile, Sid, as the style circle calls him, is busy playing the twin role of the director of his IPL team and general manager of marketing at his father’s United Breweries Group. Any other career move in the offing? “Well, I cannot disclose it now. I don’t want people to copy my ideas,” he says.

Ask him if what else keeps him occupied, and it’s fitness, he says. “I was always fit, as I am a sportsperson. I play hockey and tennis. It’s all that running I did at Mahalaxmi race course (in Mumbai) that helped me get fit.” And, that isn’t his only secret to good health. “I do zip up my mouth when I’m nearby spicy food!”
