Actor-supermodel Milind Soman wowed the guests at the Amazon India Fashion Week 2017 in Delhi when he walked the ramp after a gap of 7 years. Giving him company were a 101-year-old runner and a 98-year-old yoga teacher.

Androgynous separates, African tribal patchwork, tie-and-dye kurtas, saris, hoodies, simple silhouettes, Japanese art-inspired separates, dhoti pants and much more! The 30th edition of the 5-day Amazon India Fashion Week Autumn Winter 2017, held at Delhi’s NSIC grounds between October 11 and 15, was a celebration of all things beautiful and even surprising. Organised by the Fashion Design Council of India (FDCI), it had supermodel-actor Milind Soman walking the ramp after a gap of 7 years, JJ Valaya celebrating 25 years in the industry, a 101-year-old runner and a 98-year-old yoga teacher together giving a twist to the traditional idea of a catwalk.

Indeed, the fashion extravaganza was full of surprises. The biggest of them all was when Chandigarh’s Mann Kaur, the 101-year-old winner of the 100m race at the World Masters Games held in New Zealand this year, and V. Nanammal, a 98-year-old yoga teacher, matched steps with Milind Soman on the ramp. The three were the showstoppers for designer Nida Mahmood’s show.

When Soman wasn’t walking the ramp, he spent much of his time with his girlfriend Ankita Konwar at the Civil House restaurant area at Deivee, an active lifestyle brand he founded with friend and sports business entrepreneur Darshan M. Wearing Deivee’s tee, his chiseled chest stuck out and his sinewy arms were the envy of many youngsters at the venue. But then, what else would you expect from a guy who completed a 517.5 km race called Ultraman, where he swam 10 km, rode a bike for 148 km on day one, took it to 276 km the next day, and capped it all by running barefoot for 84 km in 34 hours and 46 minutes.

Bollywood made its presence felt with the likes of Nargis Fakhri walking for accessory designer Kara Ross, actor Aahana Kumra for designer Nikhita Tandon, Nidhhi Agerwal for designer Rina Dhaka, Vaani Kapoor for designer Payal Jain and filmmaker Divya Khosla Kumar taking to the ramp for designer Charu Parashar.

The biggest head turners, however, were the attendees, all dressed to impress. Among the guests, we spotted one screaming for attention: His super-gelled hair, Mohican haircut, Terminator shades and a shining silver jacket and pant ensured he never went unnoticed wherever he went.

For the journalists and bloggers covering the fashion week, there was a showstopper of a different kind: A surprise treat of brownies, fashionably packaged in stylish pouches. Good enough to give you a head rush when they were not checking out the ensembles being presented on the ramp.
