According to her complaint, the doctor befriended her and started messaging her. The accused, she told police, had promised to marry her, following which they had a physical relationship, the police said.

In December 2017, they started living together at a rented accommodation in Sohna. “According to the woman, they lived together for nearly two years and the accused allegedly raped her, saying that they were going to get married soon. He said all his family members know about her as they frequently visited them,” Shamsher Singh, assistant commissioner of police (crime), said.

The woman mentioned in her complaint that she was forced to undergo an abortion four times during the two years, said police.

The police said the accused had even introduced her to his friends as his wife, often took her out to meet his friends and invited them to their house for dinner.“After they joined different hospitals, the complainant started pressuring him for marriage but he kept delaying it and then started ignoring her,” said Singh.

The woman said that after undergoing an abortion in December, she went home again as her health deteriorated. “The woman said that the doctor received her calls until February but after that, he switched off his mobile phone and went incommunicado. She narrated her ordeal to her family members, who went to meet the doctor and his family members,” said Singh.

The woman said that he refused to marry her, after which she approached the police.

The accused has been booked under section 376 (2) (n) of the IPC at the Palam Vihar police station.

Police are still to arrest the doctor and a hunt is on at suspected locations.
