Dr Madhav Dhodapkar is the Arthur and Isabel Bunker Professor, Chief of Section of Hematology and Co-Leader of the Cancer Immunology program at Yale University. Prior to moving to Yale in 1998, Dr Dhodapkar was Head of Laboratory of Tumor Immunology and Immunotherapy at the Rockefeller University and on faculty at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in New York City. He obtained his medical degree from the All India Institute of Medical Sciences in New Delhi. Over the past 2 decades, Dr Dhodapkar has made several seminal contributions to cancer immunotherapy, including the earliest studies of dendritic cell vaccination, role of immune system in cancer prevention and more recently, understanding the effects of immune checkpoint blockade. He is a recipient of several awards for his research, including the Outstanding Investigator Award from the National Cancer Institute in the United States.
